"I like my money right where I can see it, hanging in my closet"
Thanx Carrie Bradshaw *insert eye roll*
It’s the perfect mind set to have...if you're rich of course. But for those of us who are still working our way to the wealthy life, we gonna need another motto.
Contrary to popular belief I wasn't always good at saving my coin's and prior to being dead broke and out of work in 2013 the idea of saving money never even crossed my mind.
But once I got my next job saving was a top priority because I NEVER wanted to be that broke again. The only issue was, at the time I had NO IDEA how to save or where to start because like a lot of people when I was growing up saving was not taught to me.
But now that I know how, I'm passing on the knowledge!
I love putting spins on classic meals especially when those little spins make meals more convent when it comes to preparing, serving and eating.
So whats my favorite classic dish to spin?
LASAGNA!
I've always loved lasagna but never liked the ordeal of making it. I hated the meticulous layering of the pan and the need to get things perfect so it stacked and cut right.
I guess the real issue is that I'm lazy LOL!
But LAZY folks unite!
If you're like me and can't be bothered with the perfection of it all check out my recipe below for lasagna roll ups.
You'll thank me when its time to pack your left over lunch, when you need a mini serving for the kiddo's and even when you want to impress folks for dinner (its something about a roll up that just looks fancy)
Guys...GUYS...GUYYYYYS!!
This is NOT a drill my favorite season is finally here and I could not be more excited.
There's just something about fall that makes me feel at home no matter where I am. The crisp air, the smell of apples, the snuggling...I could literally go on all day about my obsession with the season.
However, instead of just chatting about all the feel's Fall gives me. I'm going to show you a few things you need to pick up right now to start embracing the cozy. So you can share in all the same Fall feels I do!
LETS GET COZY!
Ever since I was little Fall has been my favorite season. I could never put my finger on why, but it but it always felt so magical.
As Ive gotten older I have come to love that along with that magical feeling, Fall is just the perfect season to do EVERYTHING in! From the 23rd of September to the 22nd of December Fall days are waiting to be explored and lived to the fullest.
There is SOOOOOOO much on my todo list for this fall but I have 10 things that are must do's for me this fall and they should be for you too!
Everyone wants to post the perfect Instagram picture right?
Before and After |
OF COURSE!
Now when your a blogger like me, posting the perfect Instagram picture is even more important. It can literally be the difference between getting noticed by a brand and securing work or going the entire month without a check coming in...and no one wants that.
I've gotten numerous questions from my followers, blogger and non bloggers alike about what filters an programs I use to edit and in general how I get the "perfectly edited pictures" I post.
While I wouldn't call my pictures anywhere close to perfect lol I have dropped a few tips here and there but finally (because y'all kept asking) I decided to spill ALL THE BEANS behind my "perfect" instagram pics here.
News flash!
I'm still in love with nail designs.
I'm really not sure what took me so long to jump on the nail bandwagon but sis is here and I feel like I'm on this ride for the long haul.
So since I'm still searching the internet each week for inspiration to bring my nail tech at my appointments (trust me...she sick of me and my millions of pix's). That also means I have new designs to share with you all as inspiration as well.
Check out the nail designs im crushing on this month below.
If you've been following my stories over on Instagram you'll know that getting my nails done has become one of my self care routines during my me time and journey back to myself since having a kid.
What I didn't know was that you all would love the nail designs I picked. So much so that every time I post them I get tons of questions on everything from where I get my nails done, to how I pick my designs and if I can send you examples of nail designs.
Since I can't do that for everyone I decided to compile a list of 40 of my favorite nail designs for y'all for all different occasions and personal styles.
Check em out.
Apparently starting an urban garden has become all the rage and I love it!
When I shared a glimpse of my balcony urban garden on IG last year, I was surprised at how many of you reached out wanting tips on how to start an urban garden of your own.
If I would have known folks were interested in this I would have shared how to start an urban garden ages ago as this isn't a new practice for me its actually a little hobby. Every place i've lived since I moved out on my own has had some form of urban garden.
Some years are better than others and what i've grown has changed but i'm supper happy to share how to start an urban garden with you all!
If you're looking for a quick way to clean up your diet?
Look no further than your grocery stores fruit section.
After having Baby Bean I became a snacking queen. Mainly because when you have a new baby in your arms, it's pretty damn difficult to find time to eat anything...let alone a healthy full meal.
So grab n go junk became the norm-- a hand full of fruit loops here, a bowl of pretzels there...an entire bag of chips SMH ya'll get my drift.
Unfortunately, all that snacking caught up to me and a week ago I stepped on the scale I was back to my pregnancy weight...I knew had to make a change and thats where fruit came in.
Theres no worse feeling then wanting to do something really bad, but being horribly afraid that you won't ever be able to do it.
Thats exactly how I felt about traveling abroad...
While cost was a factor, my biggest fear was that I would not be able to last though the plane ride to my destination without having a panic attack and completely losing my shit thousands of feet in the air with no escape.
But at the same time, I didn't want to let that fear hold me back.
First...cheers to 2021, if you have made it to see the new year that is truly a blessing.
Now that we are done the pleasantries, if you have posted anything even remotely close to the phrase "new year, new me" this blog probably isn't the place for you.
While I whole heartedly believe that people should mature and grow throughout the course of the year and their lives. The whole idea of "new year, new me" has always been irksome to me.
Why must you wait to the new year to become a new you?
What exactly are you changing?
Why must you announce it?
WHY ARE YOU LYING?!
More often than not even uttering the phrase is a clear indication that ain't nothing fittin to change for you patna.
Instead of becoming a new person next year, a better focus of time and energy would be put into goal setting. Especially after the year we had in 2020 setting some kind of goal or intention means a lot to helping keep your sanity. We all deserve better than what we had at this point.
Check out my tips below on how to goal set for 2021 to help ensure you have the most prosperous year yet!
When I teased out my milk bath maternity shoot in my Instastories. Folks. Went. Crazy.
I received so many questions on how I did it and an overwhelming excitement to see how things turned out.
Well i'm happy to say...the final product was more stunning than I could have ever imagined. But, I can't possibly take full credit.
None of this could have been possible without my amazing photographer Jessica of Ely Rose Photography who was willing to risk her camera and her safety (literally hovering over my tub) to get the perfect shot and help my milk bath vision come to life...
