12 Not So Scary Halloween Movies To Watch This Fall

Friday, October 11, 2019

What's better than curling up with a blanket, a boo, some fuzzy slippers and a scary movie on a fall weekend?

Well if your like me...

Admittedly i'm a punk when it comes to scary movies.

Such that i'd openly tell people that up until about college is was still "scared" of the halloween episodes of Martin.

Pretty much any movie where my imagination can get ahead of it self was/is too much for me and I know i'm not alone...you ain't gotta lie Craig lol.

But even if you are not a punk like me a lot of us have littles now a days so I've compiled a punk/kid friendly list of halloween movies to watch this season that won't induce any nightmares.

1) Hocus Pocus

Let us first start off with the one and only Halloween movie that matters and arguably the best Halloween movie ever made. If you do nothing else this year catch up with the Sanderson sisters as they try to suck the lives out of children...hmmm that makes this sound scary lol.

2) Its The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

Whats a holiday with out a Charlie Brown special am I right?! Charlie Brown, Linus and the whole gang is here to celebrate with a little trick or treating and some Great Pumpkin mystery.

3)Nightmare Before Christmas

Not exactly Halloween, not exactly Christmas lol this movie spans the holiday season. This personally has never been one of my favorites but never the less it's a cult classic with enough romance and singing to keep things light.

While not exactly a "Halloween" movie, it is about a little boy who gets transported to the land of the dead...that counts right? Personally I LOVED this movie and may or may not have cried like a little baby while watching it. It's not scary at all...it's heart warming.

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlej-...ah not gonna get me! Not at all scary but maybe just a little odd lol Beetlejuice may be more of an adult kinda movie, save this one for when the kiddies get older.

6) Ghostbusters

Lies lol I would be scared out of my mind if I saw a ghost.

7) The Adams Family

Lets call them the first family of halloween. Mysterious and spooky, yes but not at all horrifying. They are actually a lot like us normal folk...just with more black in their closet lol.

8) Casper

Friendly ghosts are the best ghosts there are right?

This sweet movie isn't scary at all and your little will love it.

9) Practical Magic

You put the lime in the coconut and mix it all up *dances* if you have ever seen the movie you get it.  While Practical Magic isn't scary per se, it may not be for your littles. There magic, there's murder there's margaritas and more.

10) Halloweentown 1 + 2

It's actually probably a rule that Disney can't go above a level 4 when it comes to scary lol. Halloween town is great if you have elementary and middle school kiddos that can't handle things that go bump in the night.

Hmmm...I can't honestly stop at 10 so you get two bonus movies.

11) Twitches

Another classic made for tv Disney movie that I love. One because who dosen't like magic and two who does not like Tia and Tamera Mowry!? I will say that this movie actually used to scare me a little  (because I'm a punk) but also because the idea of "the darkness" coming after you was creepy.

12) The legend of Sleepy Hallow

Poor ol Ichabod Crane lol. This animated version is much tamer than the Sleepy Hallow that stars Johnny Depp and is "fun for all ages". The headless horseman, the flaming pumpkin the covered bridge, it's a classic.

Happy movie watching!

In the comments below let me know your favorite halloween or "not so scary" scary movie.

Until Next Time,
XO Deanna
