My Daily Skin Care Routine & The 6 Products You Need To Get Glowing Skin

Tuesday, August 30, 2016

I know for many people, summer can do a number on your skin. From sunburn peeling to skin irritation and pimples due to sweat and dirt build up. It can be hard to keep that beautiful face of yours silky smooth and glowing.

Now with the seasons about to change (whenever the weather decides to lean in my favor lol) your skin is about to be thrown for another loop.

With all the changes I figured I'd share my skin care routine with you to help get your skin back in gear from all that summer has done and prep it for fall to avoid any other...lack luster reactions.

After the jump you'll find my 6 go to products that I think every woman should have in her skin care arsenal along with a bonus tip on how to really boost you skins heath so you'll be glowing right into fall!

1) Makeup/ Skin Care Wipes

Ponds- Original Fresh Wet Cleansing Towelettes

When I tell you I live and die by face wipes....GIRL.

Its been years since i've used water to cleanse my face on a consistent basis. I actually pretty much avoid water touching my face at all cost.

*eye roll*

I know y'all are probably thinking EWWWWWW but listen...one horrible break out can change your opinions about tap water QUICK.

So face wipes it is, my favorite are these Ponds wipes because of their texture, scent and cleaning ability. The cloths have a pattern on them that help's grip the crud off your face and gently exfoliate and they have just enough cleaning solution to do a whole face with one wipe.

I LOVE THEM!

2) Oil Cleansing

Boscia- Make Up Break Up Cooling Cleansing Oil

Oil cleansing is nothing new and I actually think it was this time a few years ago that I discovered cleansing with coconut oil.

When I first started cleansing with coconut oil the biggest perk was how good it removed my make up which this Boscia cool cleansing oil does a great job at as well.

The issue I ran into when cleansing with coconut oil was that after a few weeks it actually started causing me to breakout, I'm not sure if it was because I was using too much or what but I had to nip that in the bud.

Ive been using the Boscia for over month now and have not had any issues PRAISE HIM! I'm super happy with how clean it leaves my skin and that my face still feels hydrated once I'm done.

I use about a pump and a half for my whole face, massage it in and then wipe clean with my face wipe.

3) Face Scrub

Boscia- Smoothing Facial Polish

Ive been crushing on the Boscia line ever since I saw Ty from Gorgeous In Grey use one of there face masks on Snapchat. Even though she may have looked a little redic (as everyone does in face masks) her skin looked BOMB AF after.

So I went and grabbed a few for myself.

But when I saw that this face scrub at Marshalls, YES MARSHALLS for the low low. I jumped at purchasing it and it was one of the best decisions I've made. I use the scrub every few weeks and it gently exfoliates my skin and leaves my face feeling fresh instead of stripped and dry!

4) Hydrating Face Spray

Pearl Essence- Cucumber Water Hydrating Face Mist

I came across this spray while strolling down the aisle of Marshalls as well! Im telling you that store is my go to when searching for new or discount skin care products.

Prior to that day the only face spray I had ever tried was a few bomb ass makeup setting spray's here and there but never something specifically made for hydrating your skin.

The Pearl Essence line also has coconut water sprays, rose water sprays and more.

This spray is lightweight, refreshing and leaves your face feeling cool after just a few spritz. I love the way it smells and have had nothing but positive hydrating effects especially after using my exfoliator.

Pro Tip: You can even use this to add a dewy glow to your makeup look *insert heart eye emoji*

5) Face Moisturizer

TBA...cuz I ain't got nothing *cries*

This is the one category that I continuously fail in and its actually frustrating that I have yet to find my holy grail product to keep my face moisturized but not oily.

Because as we know...oil and dirt cause clogged pores and...yup, you guessed it. Ain't nobody got time for that!

I've done a lot of product testing but some how always come back to *side eye* Bath and Body Works lotion. Which is probably horrible for you face...but until something tickles my fancy, my face will smell like pumpkin marshmallow latte!

If y'all have any recommendations tho...hit me up on the gram @theprettygirlsguide

6) Cooling Eye Pads

Dirty Works- Cucumber Eye Pads

These eye pads are super new to my regimen and they aren't exactly park of the whole skin care part of it but chiiiiiiile when I tell you after a long day at work pop a set of these babies in the freezer for a few minuets.

Then take them out and lay them over your eyes while listening to some smooth tunes...

You'll be so relaxed that you will forget about all those people at work that were two seconds from making you catch a case!

**BONUS**

WATER WATER WATER

Ever since I began my attempt (lets be honest right?) at a healthier lifestyle the one thing that I have been super consistent with is drinking more water than ever.

Im talking 72oz of water or more a day!

This is huge for me because prior to this slow but steady lifestyle revamp it was a struggle for me to even get through one 16 oz bottle of water (embarrassing). Since I've upped my water intake I have seen a lot of improvements and changes.

Of course I pee like a race horse but also, I feel less crappy and tired throughout the day, I concentrate better and best of all my skin feels more hydrated and looks super clear. Water helps flush out the toxins in your body and that includes your skin leading to less inflammation and less clogged pores.

End result...WINNING!

I hope you guys grab some of these products and work them into your daily skin care regimen. Remember, we all have different skin types and different needs, theses are the products that work for me and my normal to dry skin. If you have oily skin or chronic acne you may want to switch out some products for others. Finding the perfect product mix for you is all about trial and error.

Until Next Time,
XO Deanna

  1. Thank you so much for writing this. This was much needed. These summers have completely ruined my face even though I use sunblock on a daily basis. By the way, could you please advise something for open pores?
