Why You Should Never Throw Away Those Unused Natural Hair Products

Why? WHY?!?!?!

Because you never know when that hair product in the bottom of your hair box might be the diamond in the rough that you never knew you had!

That very thing happed to me this weekend with a product from a brand that well...lol keep reading.

So for those of you who have been following me for a while know just over a year ago I basically banished any product by Shea Moisture after a fiasco I had while using one of their newest products at the time. My apparently protein sensitive hair all but curled up and died after one shampoo. I wont get into the details now, you can read HERE.

Now although I was pissed beyond belief and FiFi (my hair) felt as though she was holding on for dear life. That post was not made to bring shade to Shea Moisture I was really just explaining my experience and voicing my opinion which is what Blogger does.

But either way after that I never bought another Shea moisture product.

Of course that didn't change the fact that there was an abundance of Shea Moisture products in my house and because I am a true product junkie and maybe just maybe a slight hoarder I never threw the rest of the products away. Even though I probably got them for free due to couponing which if you guys are interested in you can read about HERE.

So yesterday when I was desperately in need of a wash day and just as desperately in need of a shampoo...

I frantically dug into the bottom of my hair box and stumbled upon a Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo that I had never opened.  While my initial thought was to toss it back in the box and keep looking.... I knew damn good and well there was nothing else in there and I wasn't walking to Target in the snow for shampoo. So.....I said what the hell and started washing my hair.

Completely completely convinced that I would be pissed at the outcome but for the simple fact that my hair needed to be clean I kept scrubbing.

Almost immediately and quite to my surprise I felt a difference in my hair from the last few times I shampooed it.

My hair was almost automatically softer more manageable and my hair it felt refreshingly cleaner then it ad felt in a while *insert shocked emoji face*

I kept shampooing thinking "no no no this couldn't be because of the Shea Moisture shampoo"....because I was so against Shea moisture. I decided that by the time I rinsed my hair out it would feel hard and unmanageable.

*rinses*

WRONG!!

After my rinse and my hair was still soft and my curls were clumping and my scalp felt cleaner than a Disney stars wrap sheet!

My hair was clean and i was dare I say happy ?

Slightly frustrated while very excited at the same time ran into my bedroom dug my hair box and I grab the conditioner slapped in my hair popped on a plastic and sat and waited would she again be surprised?

YUP!

TWO FOR TWO!

My detangling session went smooth as butter and my hair was ready to be styled.

I used some Argan Oil from Cream Of Nature and Cantu Leave In Conditioner to prep for my flat twist.

Then followed up with Eco Natural (eco styler brand) Eco Custard mixed with Design Essentials Natural Honey Curl Forming Custard (both MAJOR KEYS) to style and

BOOM BABY!

FiFi bout to be on fleek!

My hair feels soft, hydrated and happy. All my 4C girls with fussy hair or dry problematic curls if you have not already given Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo a try.
DO IT!

I give it 4 out of 5 curls!

I said all this to say if you've had a company who's products you didn't like because of one bad experience (traumatic or not), don't necessarily count them all the way out. That product may just not have been the product for your hair. If you have the receipt take it back Target, CVS, or wherever you got it from and try something else. Yes trial and error is an annoying process however it is the most important process for your hair.

Remember finding the right product is like finding the right Man you ain't going get lucky the first time around all the time boo....and there is more where that one came from!

So before you toss all those unused product just because the name on the label try them out...they just might surprise you and if not take that shit back!

Are there any products/brands you refuse to try because of one bad experience? Let me know below!

Until Next Time,
XO Deanna
