Hey there loves!

I can't believe that its almost mid November already, like where has the time gone? The next thing you know its going to be time to deck the halls and fa la la la la la la...well you get it lol at holiday parties.

Throwback to when I was in college Christmas and Holiday parties used to be my favorite kinds of parties, not because of all the yuletide cheer but because of the DRINKS!!

There were always the most creative drinks at the parties I went to, including my favorite winter time drink peppermint hot coco.

So in remembrance of my good ol college days and in preparation for your upcoming holiday parties I have comprised a list of drink recipes befitting of the season...if you are of legal drinking age of course *side eye*

2. Luscious Eggnog

Ingredients:

3 eggs, lightly beaten
1/3 cup white sugar
salt to taste
2 1/2 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons confectioners sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup rum
2 drops yellow food coloring (optional)
1 pinch ground nutmeg
.....or you could just take the chill route and buy the darn eggnog from the supermarket LOL

Directions:

In heavy sauce pan combine eggs, white sugar, and salt; gradually stir in milk. Stirring constantly, cook for 10 to 15 minutes over medium heat, until mixture just coats a metal spoon. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Place saucepan over ice water until custard cools and then refrigerate until chilled.

In a chilled bowl, combine heavy cream confectioners sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Beat until stiff peaks form. Stir in rum and yellow food coloring. Fold whipped cream mixture into the cooled custard. Pour into serving bowl, sprinkle with nutmeg.

Of course if you took the easy way out like I would lol juuuuuust throw that rum on in that pre mixed eggnog.

Serve immediately and leave leftovers chilling in a bowl on ice =)

4. English Christmas Punch

Ingredients:

750 ml bottle of dark rum
750 ml bottle dry red wine
3 cups strong, brewed tea
2 cups sugar (or more...I like my tea sweet!)
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup lemon juice
seasonal fruit for garnish

Directions:

This recipe is designed to be made in large batches, and can be made warmed by cooking or by setting flame to the rum....I would just heat it up but if you know what your doing and your fancy....FLAME ON!

Heat, but do not allow to boil all of the ingredients in a sauce pan. Stir well and ensure that all of the sugar is dissolved. Pour the heated mix into a heat proof punch bowl and add seasonal fruit for garnish and serve warm.

or

Heat wine, tea, lemon and orange juices in a sauce pan but do not allow it to boil. Pour heated mix into a heat proof punch bowl. Place as much sugar as possible into a large ladle and any excess sugar into the punch bowl. Saturate the sugar in the ladle with rum. Ignite the rum and sugar in the ladle and pour it into the bowl while still a flame. Stir well and extinguish the flames and pour the remainder of the rum into the punch. Stir well and serve warm.

5. The Grinch

1/2 ounce lemon juice
1 teaspoon simple syrup
maraschino cherry for garnish

6. Peppermint Patty (Peppermint Hot Chocolate)

Soooo I pretty much saved the best for last, this was the drink of choice in college during the holiday season, at house parties there were huge pots filled with this stuff and I must admit small batches were cooked up on cold days and taken to class in a thermos (to keep warm on the walk of course lol) no fancy measurements needed...in college it just depended how tipsy you wanted to be LMAO

Ingredients:

1 quart milk
6 ounces bitter sweet or semisweet chocolate, chopped
9 ounces peppermint schnapps
6 peppermint sticks, for serving
whipped cream, for serving

or you can give it the ol college try and pull out a packet of swiss miss and some peppermint schnapps and call it a day!

Directions:

Heat 1 cups of the milk in a medium sauce pan over low heat, add chocolate, stirring constantly until melted. When chocolate has melted,  increase heat to medium and add the remainder of the mil while whisking rapidly. DO NOT allow to boil.

Serve in small cups fortified with a jigger (1 1/2 ounces of peppermint schnapps and a dollop of whipped cream. Add a peppermint stick to stir.

of course on the flip side heat some water or milk in the microwave with some swiss miss pour in the schnapps and go!

I hope all of you have been inspired by these recipes and try at least one or two of them out for your holiday parties or just on a cozy night at home. Of course drink responsibly loves!
